The hotel is excellant value for money and in a good location. We were surprised that it was not non-smoking. The rooms are fairly small but perfectly adequate and clean. We would have wished for an iron and ironing board. Hairdryer and tea making facilities are provided. The pool and fitness area were out of use due to re-furbishmnent, so can not comment. We neeed to use the Internet at 23.45 to book saets with BA and the staff kindly opened up the business suite especially for our use. In general, the best thing about the Empire was the helpfulness of the staff who could not do enough for their guests.

This hotel could do with a makeover. Staff most pleasant and efficient. Premises tired, a damp smell in the corridors and in rooms. Bathrooms not 100% clean or in good condition. Gym is poorly equipped. Mini bar prices way too high for even water (would expect complimentary bottled water) and the promised coffee machine was simply a kettle. Free Internet service in rooms would also have been a good addition to the package.
