Had requested two beds and only available on a smoking floor, this seemed to be a common problem watching other guests check in.

Room & check in OK, but bar, dining room & pool area in serious need of refurbishing. Gymnasium consists of a few machines in the garden! Dining room dull and staffed mostly by lazy & unhelpful waiters with serious attitude problems? You had to ask for everything such as more coffee - nothing was offered. Bar again too dark and spoiled by enormous TV and pool table. Pool OK but surrounds poor and serious building going on immediately next door - 2 pile drivers in competition from 0800 to 1800 non stop. I would not visit again.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. However, the room was smaller than I anticipated (even though I was upgraded!). Unfortunately, there is a new hotel being built right next door and there are some renovation works going on in the hotel too.I stayed at the York hotel last time and although my initial impressions there were of simplicity, the extra space in and around the hotel coupled with a larger room will mean that I am more likely to stay there next time. I believe it is cheaper too.
