Facilities excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Distance from Patong is a problem as taxis back and forth can be costly. Hotel shuttle could run more often. Beach is very rocky which makes swimming difficult.

Do not go to this hotel based on customer service or if your a couple. This is a very busy family hotel with lots of children running around, making alot of noise and jumping in and out of the pools. For this size, star rating and price the customer service is very poor. I expected a personal serivce from the money I paid and the high star rating of the hotel. All I felt was cattle coming in and going out. The hotel was full and that all that seemed to matter, more cash for them.
To start with most of their English is very poor, so if you have a complaint to make you can be assured that they wont understand your problem and therefore they wont help you.

On a great property and we found the private beach to be fine for swimming. Did tend to get crowded at restaurants and food service was a bit slow at times. Internet access on site quite expensive and not very fast. Great basic rooms and pool areas. We never had a problem finding any loungers. One odd thing is that the power flickered on and off a few times and actually went out completely at the whole facility. It was rainy at the time but not heavily. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I had stayed previously stayed in a resort in Thailand and paid alot more for the room. However the location, facilities, pools and just the general vibe of the place could in no way match that of the Merlin.
My friends and I had an awesome time at the Merlin and will recommend it to anyone planning on visiting Phuket.

The Merlin Beach Resort is heaven on earth, the staff are the most delightful I have enver encountered. I am homesick for the resort and will be returning next year and each year there after.
