gentle, friendly staff, great location if you want peace and quiet but quite remote - nearest doctor is a 25 minute cab ride... gym could be better maintained, cleaner

Excellent value 5 star resort, particularly so during the low season. A little remote, but for that you get an almost pristine streches of beach either side. One of the highlights is the buffet breakfast which matches those at some of the best hotels in Bangkok for quality and variety. Nice pool and facilities.

Seemingly endless kilometers of undeveloped beach are a huge advantage to this hotel which is unobtrusive form the water, but which has beautiful gardens.

Great beach, very nice resort; several pools for adults and for children.
The kids club is really above average and the kids loved it.
Friendly staff; nice à la carte restaurants. Very nice spa.
It is a bit remote, but if you are looking for peace that is an advantage. However, the setting in the middle of the vegatation means there are moskitoes (and lizards - one other guest said he was annoyed by them).
If you are looking for action this is not the place to go. The resort is rather quiet, and Khao Lak village is not too exciting.
Many trips available to visit in the area. No diving in the resort; but if you take the speedboat to the Similan Islands (about a 1 1/2 hour trip plus roughly another hour transfer by car ) there are great beaches and diving spots.
Summary: Great resort, with a little more attention to detail it could be even better. Would return.

lovelly settings unfortunately ground floor rooms were very humid and smelly. The hotel mgr assured us this would be resolved sometimes next year by using dehumidifiers.

I enjoyed my stay in August when it was quieter and the room had an excellent view of the swimming pool and spa. I found the view from room 383 disappointing and a bit too cramp for three people. I liked the kayaking and Hobbie Cat, but think it should be free for the first hour and then the hotel can impose a charge after that time. Would be nice to have a BBQ at the seafront for lunch and evenings.

We enjoyed the experience completley. It seemed like whatever we wanted to do the hotel had or made a possible way for it to happen. Our only complaint was a slight confusion with verbal communication and understanding at times.

I am used to staying at five star hotels, all over the world, but this is the best I have ever stayed at. There was nothing missing to wish for due to a great location, service, room, SPA, pools and beach, breakfast etc. Me and my husband stayed for 2 weeks and we agree that this is the best holiday we have ever had (fourth time in Thailand).
I had a birthday during my stay and had not notified the hotel but they sent a gorgeous chocolate cake to the room. There were other little details such as them remembering that we would like to have a glass and a bottle of water on our night-table, extra towels and even our favorite coctails at the beach.
We will most definately go back to Le Meridien, Khao Lak!
