Karon sea sands resort is really value for money! Would definitely want to come back again. Location wise, it is good if you want a quiet stay away from the rowdy crowd in patong. Food was relatively ok, and the service staff were generally friendly. Rooms were fantastic for the amount of money I paid. Not for picky stayers, though.

Fairly disappointed with the service provided at the hotel. before arrival at Phuket city we were told by a hotel employee that local transportation would be available to travel to the beach. Upon arrival we made it to the songtaew station to find out that they had quit running for the evening so we were forced to take a taxi at 10 times the price. We also experienced difficulty upon check out which caused us to miss the Songtaew back into town and we were forced to wait another 45 minutes for the next oppoturnity. The hotel was good, but the service provided by employees was frustrating.

Cannot speak highly enough of the Karon Sea Sands. The location is seafront and near the many shops clustered off the Karon roundabout. The staff were efficient and very smiley. The deluxe room I booked on Latestays for 1200b was spacious and clean with all the normal facilities, and the complimentary fruit basket was a nice touch. The direct pool access rooms looked like fun, but at double the price of a deluxe room are a little overpriced. The pool is fairly large considering the size of the hotel, and no problem with getting a sunbed as it was low season and only about a third of the rooms were filled. During high season this could be a problem, but this seems to be a common complaint with most hotels in the high season. This hotel is rated 3 stars but is worthy of 4 stars in most categories, and definitely better value for money than other 4 star hotels I have stayed at before. Just a comment about the weather in Phuket at this time of season, weather can be very varied with sudden burts of heavy showers and the sea is too rough to swim in which makes a decent hotel pool a must! Having said that, in my opinion the relaxed low season atmosphere and discounted hotel prices more than make up for this.

We found Karon Sea Sands Resort in a great position, across the road from the beach and many restaurants and shops to choose from very nearby. Our room and the service were fantastic, our only complaint being our very hard bed. The bed at our next resort was just the same, so we guess they are the same everywhere in Phuket. The pool is just beautiful.

We got a room for free when we came early in the morning, before our room was ready. That was fantastic, we got some hours sleep.

The hotel room was very comfortable and clean. Big enough for my very active boys, 3 and 6 yrs old to run and jump around. The breakfast spread was very good. Hotel is value for money. The beautiful beach is just across the road, 2 minutes walk from the hotel entrance. We could catch a bus to the Phuket Town just across the road. It costs 25 Baht for adults and 10 Baht for children. The journey is abt 45 minutes. The "bus" is actually like a lorry with 3 wooden planks. It is a good way to see the island. Going to Patong costs 200 Baht one way. (You have to bargain . . . all tuk tuks asked for 300 Baht).
As it was a last minute booking, I requested www.latestay.com to inform the hotel that my husband will be celebrating his birthday during our stay. And I hope the hotel can give him a surprise. Indeed KARON SEA SAND RESORT surprised my family with a yummy birthday cake and a beautiful floral arrangement. And many hotel staff greeted my husband "Happy Birthday" . . . including the reception, room service and chamber maid:) He was delighted.
Thumbs up for good service:)
