At todays exhorbitant hotel prices in Singapore, the Bencoolan, being reasonably close to Doby Ghaut MRT station, must represent comparatively good value. The room we had, however, was much too small for a stay of more than 1 night.

I was in a quite small room but neatly arranged.
I understand water is precious in Singapore but at least the hotel must give us a free bottle to welcome us

The hotel was good and we had no complaints about it. Handy to everything. Staff helpful and porter excellent. TV could have had a few more english speaking channels. Would recommend

My sister and I found Hotel Bencoolen great although the room was very small. If we had luggage with us it could have been difficult. The bathroom was clean and well set out, which was nice and the spa was great although no one was around to tell us what to do with towels etc. The position was perfect for us and we would stay again when we have stopovers.

The hotel had its good years and it had passed. You can tell that it had good furniture in the lobby and the ones in the rooms used to be good too. Unfortunately the building is not well maintained or simply getting old, especially the carpeting throughout the public spaces and in the room.It looks dirty and dingy. Walls & windows curtain in the room is so dirty that it needs good cleaning. The wall between rooms are thin; when I was drying my hair in the middle of the night, I got a noise complaint from my neighbor. Aside from the hotel condition, the location is great, breakfast is relatively good for the price you pay and a couple staff were very friendly, especially Aman and the gentleman with glasses working overnight.

For a 3 star hotel, it certainly rates as one of the best we stayed in. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The rooms even though small are adequate for what you need. The prices were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
If this hotel "grows up"(ever gets bigger) it will have no trouble being a 5 star resort as they already have the service and attitude of one.
