The Garden Hotel is not the cheapest hotel in Guangzhou, (it is very cheap compared to any comparable hotel in Hong Kong) but its location is good, the service is great, a sort of an oasis in the middle of a VERY busy city. When it is raining, getting a taxi in Guangzhou can sometimes take an hour, no exaggeration. If your clients meet you at the hotel (a nice place to meet), there is NO waiting for a taxi to leave. It makes a difference. The gym and pool are clean and nice. There have been many recent renovations and upgrades to the hotel, and they have been done well. To me, it is worth the 50 dollars extra over the cost of a room at the Holiday Inn in Guangzhou to stay at the Garden Hotel, even though the other hotel is much closer to where I do almost all of my business. If there is a room available, the Garden Hotel is always my first choice.
