Very good value for money. All the staff were friendly and always helpful. The location is good for sightseeing at the temples etc around George Town - to take it all in ride in a trishaw for RM25/hour! Alternatively to travel further afield a range of minibus tours can be arranged in the foyer. To catch public transport go to the nearby Komtar Centre where buses depart for all parts of Penang - the fare to Batu Ferringhi was just RM1.50. The Hotel is also handy for markets and nightlife. Despite the central location, once in your room the Hotel is quiet and peaceful. The lobby lounge is comfortable, they mix a good cocktail, and the resident band during our stay the "Sugarbeats" talented and great entertainment. For breakfast, there was quite an extensive buffet and the restaurants were also very good. All in all a nice experience.

The outside of the hotel was being refurbished during our stay. There was a hotel letter in the room informing the guests about the necessary work and it stated that the work would occur between 10am and 5pm everyday. We had planned to be out of the hotel during the working hours so we thought that the work would not affect us. During our stay, the majority of the building work seemed to be happening around the window of our room because there was large amount of dust around the window frame every day. There was heavy rain the night before we left and we awoke to find the rain seeped into the room and soaked the carpet at the window. Then as we were packing to leave, my wife was shocked to see two men on a cradle outside our room window at 9am preparing to begin work. We complained to the hotel manager but we received a very unsympathetic apology.

Bayview Georgetown has excellent location. The room is spacious and clean. However, it feels a bit dated and old. The management should invest in giving the hotel a makeover.

My room was ok in cleanliness, but a couple of my fellow travelers had bugs in the bed and room. The staff spayed bug killer while the guests were in the room. I would not stay at this hotel again and would rather pay more money to stay at a nicer hotel.
