I would highly recommend this hotel for the family. The hotel is at a great location to get around Bangkok. The hotel offers a free shuttle boat to the Sky Train which is very convient to get downtown. There is a small shoping complex about 50 meters in front of the hotel that has ATM machines, family friendly / fast food restaurants, and few Thai - shops and toys for the kids. Around 100 meters from the hotel, there is a convience store. The swimming pool area is large and the very good, but it does get a bit crowded since it is a great attraction. All the food at the resort is excellent, but be prepared to bare the expense of the additional 10% service + VAT Tax; though, it was worth it.

It was the most expencive hotel we have ever stayed at, it was well worth the money, the only negitive we had was they offered us a riverview for an extra 2800 bht and it was a night not one time charge, we didnt understand well enough but the dinner cruise was amazing and well for the extra

The check in was the slowest and most drawn out ever. We were eventually given a room facing the river and a slum sight with a generator under the window that made a hellish din. The room itself was fine but the noise!!!
I complained and we were moved to a room opposite overlooking the river too but also overlooking the pretty garden with no nasty noise.
The hotel itself is fine with boat service down to Central pier where you can connect to other hotels. It is a very long way from the main shopping experiences of Bangkok and the Sky train. The vicinity by road is not desireable.

Staff are wonderful. Too many people at the pool tough... who can do anything about that?

Marriott is always an oasis when traveling in Thailand. Very nice people and wonderful atmosphere.
